I Heard it Through the Grapevine

So what are we going to talk about today? How about investment pieces? What about investment pieces? Are they worth the investment?

Please excuse the awkwardness of the photos, I had the camera on self-timer… Also, excuse the dirt on my knees, I was kneeling trying to situate the camera properly!

Now it’s time for some more photos from
the gorgeous La Rocca Vineyard – Bed & Breakfast!
(If you are ever in the north of Italy you need to make your way to Tracey’s vineyard! You won’t be disappointed! )

Take this skirt for example. I consider it one of the wisest pieces I’ve ever purchased.  It was a bit pricey, around 25 pounds from Topshop, but since I’ve purchased it I’ve probably worn it around a dozen times. To me that is a piece of clothing that is worth the investment.

There are several things that contributed to the convincing of myself to purchase this skirt…

#1) It’s elastic waist. That means I can eat as much gelato as I want and it will still fit… Which is good because I’ve eaten a LOT of gelato as of late.

Also, please excuse the awkward camera angle… But hey, if you’re not awkward, chances are you’re probably not awesome.

#2) It’s plain denim (and stretchy denim) – This means that it literally goes with any and every shirt I own. Outfit combination possibilities? 47256247…. (Only kidding, I don’t own that many tops… *cough*)
I’ve been able to wear it numerous times on Spring Break with a different top each time and it looks like an entirely new outfit.

Yes mom, I’m barefoot. Please don’t kill me.

#3) It can be worn high or low. – In these pictures I’m wearing it higher on my waist, thus the scandalous amount of pasty white leg showing. But since it’s elastic waist (see #1) I can wear it lower slung on my hips so that it’s a knee length skirt.

I’m not sure what was so exciting over to my right…
#4) It’s a good weight fabric. – It’s light enough that I can wear it during spring and summer but heavy enough that I will be able to toss it on this fall and winter with tights and boots and still be warm!
#5) It packs easily! – I’ve been able to roll it up pretty small in my suitcase for traveling which is always a plus! Also, It doesn’t wrinkle I just pulled it out of my suitcase to wear so i can go get some more (big surprise) gelato. It had been rolled up in my suitcase for a week and a half and it’s not wrinkly!
Enjoying the warm weather and sunshine in Italy!

#6) It’s A-Line & it’s COMFY! – It was probably already implied in the previous points but this skirt is SO comfortable! I love the A-Line cut… It’s my favorite cut of a skirt of a dress, closely followed by a pencil skirt cut.  I always find that A-Line skirts are extremely flattering on me.  They’re usually flattering on most body styles too!

All in all I think that this skirt was a good investment piece that I purchased… Or am I just trying to justify it?
What do you think?
xoxo,
Maddie

I know what you mean! One of my best investment purchases was a leather purse from Fossil… I've had it for a long time and it hasn't fallen apart. Well worth the investment!
