Over Exposed… But in a Good Way.

If you search any site for “closet must haves” or “10 pieces every closet needs” you will inevitability find somewhere on the list the iconic LBD aka the “Little Black Dress”
Every woman knows that a LBD is a staple piece for any wardrobe, it’s like we were born with this innate knowledge of it or something. It’s true though, black is flattering on any woman, it has to do with light and perception and the color white etc… I’m not going to go into it now, but it was one of the most interesting things that stood out to me while studying 8th grade science.

I decided that I was going to take a few of my favorite little black dresses and show you
more than just one way to wear them. I’m not sure how many combinations I’ll come up with, maybe five, maybe twenty… But I wanted to prove that it truly is a versatile piece instead of one that just stands alone

I didn’t realize that when the photos were being taken the camera was on manual… And then the sun came out. But I loved some of the photos so much. I tried fixing them through photoshop, but I haven’t figured out how to use it yet. (If anyone knows anything about Lightroom 5, let me know) I picked the ones that were the best and decided to still share them with you. (There are a few ones that turned out fine too!)

For this look, I tossed a sheer sweatshirt over the top of this dress and finished off the look with some tan ankle boots and ruffled socks. Yes I am all over the ruffled socks trend. Brings back the good memories of preschool and kindergarten outfits. I was always the kid that had the Mary Jane shoes with the ruffled bobby socks. My mom dressed me, she dressed me well, and she still dresses me sometimes.

(Sometimes after showers, I will stand in front of my closet for long periods of time until my mom comes in and pulls something off the hangers for me.)

Oh those boots? They are all over here in England… I really wanted a pair in this color but all the pairs I found were super expensive. Enter Zara kids. Thank goodness for tiny feet. I love that I can get away with wearing kids shoes. Tehehe.

Also, apples and peanut butter have become my go to snack. I ran out of peanut butter so I had to finish my bag of apples without… So sad. But why not take advantage of this and eat an apple while taking photos? Whoa. It did make for some pretty hilarious outtakes…

The last outtakes that I posted on the blog Facebook page were a huge hit so maybe I’ll post a few more and you can enjoy them.

So, what are some of your favorite ways to wear a little black dress? I have more ideas on what to show you so stay tuned. I only have one or two more big assignments due at school then I will hopefully be able to focus on getting more posts up on the blog and doing more outfit shoots.

I cannot believe that I only have one more week here at school. This year has just flown by, it seems like just yesterday I was pulling into school, awkwardly greeting my new roommates. (Miss you Room 8!) How in the world has this time slipped by so quickly?

I’ll catch up with you later blog friends,

Sweatshirt – CAbi
Dress – Nordstroms
Shoes – Zara Kids
Socks – River Island
