So now I need my girls!
I just got back from a trip to Chicago to wedding dress shop with my mom and two of my friends, Sami & Joy. Well, it actually started as two of my friends, and ended as two of my bridesmaids!
Sadly my other friend Bre wasn’t able to make the trip because of school, (ugh school, it always gets in the way of fun) but she did receive the same gift in the mail! We missed having her along for the trip, but made sure to send her tons of photos in the “Maddie’s Bridesmaids” group message. (Sorry to all my bridesmaids if your texting limit is maxed out because of me…)
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza, which was a blast from the past. Growing up, when my mom, sisters, and I would travel to Chicago to purchase clothing for our store, we always stayed at the Mart Plaza. It was amazing, the same bellhop who I knew growing up was still there and he was overjoyed to see us after so many years. He gave me a huge hug and congratulated me on my engagement, but was blown away since the last time we had been there was eight years prior and I was just a little kiddo!
Before we headed out to Macy’s on State Street, I handed over the boxes to the girls. As you can tell by their blurry hands, they were eager to unwrap them.
Because they were identical until they were unwrapped, I threw in some Sugar Paper gift toppers with their initials so I could tell them apart. Target had the cutest Sugar Paper products over Christmas and I was able to scoop up the boxes, tissue paper, and gift toppers after the holidays were over for a great price.
Inside the box held a letter that I made myself. I decided to teach myself calligraphy because it seemed like a skill that would be beneficial during the weeding planning process. I became a bit tired of holding the pen so precariously, so I ended up using a sharpie pen and doing things my own way.
I love witty plays on words, so when I found these bow earrings from Brighton I knew that they would be perfect! Plus they’re so stinking cute. I don’t want my bridesmaids to wear the same dresses since they’re all unique young women, and I think wearing different dresses will be a great way for their personalities to shine through. If they all have matching earrings though… Hey, I think that’s pretty cute.
I also included a zippered jewelry pouch as well as a tassel keychain that has their initial on it. I can never have enough little bags for jewelry/makeup, and the keychain would look cute on a purse or a set of keys.
And if you wanted to take a peek at the cards, here you go!
Both Sami & Joy said YES! (As well as Bre when she received hers in the mail) Hooray!
I’m so excited that I have these amazing young women alongside me throughout this journey and standing beside me on my wedding day. They all mean the world to me an have been a huge part of my life. I feel so blessed to have them as my bridesmaids, and they’ve all been so great and supportive of my relationship over the years! Thank you to all of you if you’re reading this, I love you all so much!
I have oodles of photos from trying on wedding dresses, so I will have to weed through them to find some to share with you that won’t giveaway what one I picked out. I didn’t think I would cry when I found it, but I did!
Have a lovely rest of your weekend!
